Committees

RS Council

If you use a feature of the RS Council system that either uses or depends on Committees (such as Meetings), then it is important to set these up correctly. Committees should be added in the following way:

Adding a Committee

  1. Depending on the features you are using within the RS Council system, you can either go to one of the following places to add a Committee/Group:
    • WP Admin > Meetings > Committees
    • WP Admin > Members > Committees

NOTE: If you use both Meetings & Members features, you can use either of the above places to add your Committee or Group, as these are linked together.

NameThe name of the Committee should be added here, but there is no need to add the word “committee” to the name, for example the Planning Committee should just be named “Planning”.
SlugThis is the human-readable name for the link that is used to navigate to your Committee. This is not required for you to fill out, and will be generated automatically when you save the Committee.
DescriptionThis is used to describe exactly what the purpose of the Committee is, and is displayed in relevant places on your website.
TypeThis is where you can specify what type of Group this is, where you can choose from a number of different types of Groups within a Council. This will also be the suffix that is added to the name of your group on your website. For example if you select “Working Group” as the type, and the name of the group is “Village Fair”, then on the website, the group would be displayed as “Village Fair Working Group”.
ChairThis is where you specify the Chair of the Committee
Vice ChairThis is where you speify the Vice Chair of the Committee

Sub-Committees, Working Groups and Task & Finish Groups

These should be added the same way as a normal Committee. These will appear in the Meetings page under it’s own heading, as any other Committee would.

NOTE: If you want to keep an accurate record of your meetings for these types of meetings, then do not delete them, even after they are no longer running, as they will then not be available in the Meeting Archives. Once your Year End has passed, all of the previous years’ meetings will automatically get archived, and as long as no new meetings are assigned to these groups, they will not appear in your new list of meetings for the current year.
