Get Office Apps on Windows

Office 365

Notes

  • The download of Microsoft 365 Office apps is only available on Standard and Premium packages
  • For subscribers of the Basic package, it is generally suggested that you use the Online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Web Apps, which can be used after logging into the Office website.
  • It is recommended that if you already have a previous version of Office installed, that you uninstall it completely from your device before installing this suite of apps.
  • If you already have a Microsoft 365/Office 365 subscription from another supplier, it is recommended that you should check with that supplier before continuing. If you proceed, it is not necessary to activate the apps with your new Microsoft 365 account, other than when your devices are centrally managed by your organisation.
  • You are able to upgrade your account type (Basic, Standard or Premium) at any time.

Get Started

Once you have received your account details and have logged in for the first time (the first login can require some additional steps to set up Multi-Factor Authentication or MFA), you can follow these steps to get the full Office suite installed on your Windows device:

  1. Go to www.office.com and click “Sign In”
  2. Enter your account email address and password to login
  3. You will be sent to the Dashboard, which will show you files in your OneDrive (if any exists)
  4. At the top of the page, click on “Install Office”, then select “Premium Office apps”
  5. A download manager will start downloading, when it has finished, run the program.
  6. This will download all of the Office apps and install them for you
  7. Once complete, open one of the Office apps (generally use Word) and you will be asked to Activate your license, just sign in with your account details again. You only have to do this for one of the apps and it will license all of the Office apps for you.
