Calendar

The Calendar feature is automatically activated once a feature is activated that supports the Calendar function. The use of the Calendar may be updated in future versions to allow for a more versatile and broader use of its functionality, but for now, it supports the following features:

• Annual Meetings
• Mayoral Engagements
• Meetings
• Surgeries
• Tenders (Closing Dates)
• Job Vacancies (Closing Dates)

The Calendar can appear on your website anywhere using a Shortcode pasted into a Shortcode Block. There are a few ways that it can be displayed, and the design can be changed using the Settings in the WP Admin > Settings > Calendar page.

Subscriptions

The Calendar supports the iCal format, so you can subscribe to the Calendar and have it appear in any Calendar app that supports the iCal format (including Microsoft Outlook and Gmail). If the Subscription option is enabled, there will be a button below the Calendar labelled Subscribe. Once clicked, a note will popup on the visitors screen to say that the Calendar URL has been copied successfully, this process copies the Calendar Feed URL to the clipboard. This URL can then be pasted into the desired Calendar app as an Internet Calendar, which will then sync with the Calendar on your website and update regularly.

Points to note…

1. This is a Calendar Subscription, not a full syncronisation, so historical events prior to the date of subscription will NOT appear
2. For performance reasons, and not to overwhelm visitors bandwidth/device capabilities, the period of time that the Calendar will sync events for is set in the Calendar’s Settings, but should usually be no more than 6 months, which means that the Calendar will progress the sync period to always include 6 months of items from the current date
3. This feature is intended as a convenience for casual users, and should not be used as an alternative to checking the full Calendar on the website, as it’s scope is deliberately limited.
